No Everly Brothers again this week but several connections to them:

Ricky Nelson - Fools Rush in
Cliff Richard - Good Times
Frank Sinatra & Nancy Sinatra - Something Stupid
The Beatles - Hello Goodbye
Buddy Holly - True Love Ways
Four Tops - It's the same old song
The Righteous Brothers - Just once in my life
Ricky Vallance - Tell Laura I love her

I have a feeling that Ricky was on some tours with the Everly Brothers

Lots of other great songs on the show.
This photo shows that Ricky Valance did tour with Jerry Lee Lewis, so maybe there is information that he might have toured with the Everly Brothers!

Caption to the right of the photo reads:
"Ricky Valance: My Voice is My Life
The first Welshman to reach Number 1 (on charts)
Still keen to rove he's more than one song ('Tell Laura I Love Her') on..."

Born April 1939, same year as Phil Everly

The Flamingos - I only have eyes for you
Brian Hyland - I'm afraid to go home
Pat Boone - A Wonderful Time up there
Pat Boone - It's too soon to know
Brook Benton - Will you love me tomorrow
Everly Brothers - Sweet Memories
Elvis Presley - Starting Today

At the end Bill Kenwright mentions the Everly Brothers again.

This is the last one in a series of 6 shows and Bill has played many Everly songs.
THE EVERLY BROTHERS' song, "Sweet Memories" is so tenderly sung and heavenly harmonized! What a gorgeous layer to this list of songs!

The photo above from Gloria - a vinyl sleeve I remembered that it came from a tv show which I posted into the "Shindig Thread" but the brothers are on different sides on the photo from "Thank Your Lucky Stars". I believe the vinyl cover has them on the wrong sides, if you look at Phil's hair in this photo with the side he prefers his parting.

I really do like Buddy Holly's songs, just one that I am not too sold on and the EB's covered it too. "Slippin' and A Slidin'" We had every Buddy single 45 and 78's and the Crickets as labelled on their own even when Buddy was singing with them. He really was ahead of his time with his innovative ideas. He is missed as much today as the day we lost him.

Thanks for posting "Sounds of the Sixties" Chris. Always listen to the 50's and 60's music when I can, and I love having an
Everly tune come up. I know almost all of ther music from the first note without an introduction. Always a "rush" to hear their music come up, the were simply outstanding, even amongst all the other greats.

What did anyone think of the story behind Don Ho and "Galveston"? That is the first time I have heard that story, it comes on about the 28minute mark on 20th May #147
