The "Nashville Tennessean," March 15, 1984.

Born deaf? I had heard the story that Karen Everly was of Native American heritage. I did not know she was so immersed in the entertainment business even before she met Don.

I can read this fine on the site but if you have trouble, try saving it to your computer. I can read my copy on my computer even better.

I had read Karen worked for David Frost and that's how she met a Don. Was unaware she had worked for Johnny Carson also. She was obviously very successful and talented in her field, and working to help Don with his career probably gave him a feeling of security about going out on his own, and I wond...

People can have hearing issues, in some cases fairly severe, and still manage to communicate. I wonder how it affected her voice. She sounds very smart and savvy, and had to have been very resourceful given her limitations. I had never read of her deafness before, but so little is known of Karen. Th...

Communicating when you are deaf is often done, but doing all she did is amazing. Professionally dancing, listening to the music? I wonder if she did not have the ability to hear on some level. Being able to set up David Frost, and Johnny Carson's shows and win Emmy's?
She would have never heard Ev...

I had read somewhere that she was a producer at several shows; don't recall all that were mentioned but I do remember the David Frost Show as being one.

I did not know that she was deaf either. It is amazing that she overcame the limitations with deafness. I am sure the MS offered even more limitations and she dealt with those as best as she could. Some people have a lot of determination and fortitude not to let life slow them down.

You're right, Lenore. Strong people, when dealt with setbacks in life, "just keep pickin' 'em up and puttin' 'em down," as my grandma would say. You just keep at it. That's life. Karen Everly seemed to be given more than her share but she seemed to still make a life and career for herself.

I have read a handful of comments regarding Karen from people who knew her during her years with Don, including some from Albert Lee. Karen is remembered very fondly for her professionalism and kindness.

She was a determined individual with a lot of moxie and tried to live a full life even though she was dealt a lot of health issues. She succeeded probably more than a lot of people who have no issues or a whole lot less issues.
